SEAT BELT SURVEY RESULTS
This report contains results from a seat belt survey on 1983-03-28. This is the 12th survey that has been conducted by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Transportation over a period of two years. The emphasis is placed on the provincial wearing rate. This survey's provincial wearing rate was 75.3% which was up (increased) from a previous survey where the provincial wearing rate was 73.9%. The possible reason for the upward trend of the percentage can be attributed to the enforcement agencies. With a continuing steadiness or increase in this percentage (75.3%) Newfoundland and Labrador will show the highest seat belt use rate in Canada and the lowest fatality rate. (TRRL)
