POTENTIAL IMPACTS OF THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS-TRANSPORTATION-TRADEOFF ON URBAN LAND USE
A consideration of the range of substitution possibilities, emerging developments in information technologies, some recent empirical studies, and concepts from relevant disciplines can provide some insight into the potential effects of telecommunications-transportation-tradeoff (t3). The range of possibilities is diverse. Argument has often favoured decentralization. However, the transition to t3 is likely to be gradual because there are considerable social, psychological, organizational, and indirect economic barriers. (Author/TRRL)
