RECENT ADVANCES IN ACTIVITY-TRAVEL ANALYSIS
In recent years there has been increasing interest in the possible advantages of adopting what has become known as the "activity approach" to the study of travel behaviour. This paper reports on the completion of a project that has contributed to the ideas and techniques which make up the activity approach. The research itself is briefly described, and some of the major findings of interest to transport planners are highlighted. The topics discussed show the usefulness of the activity-based study of travel at the data collection, data analysis and modelling stages of transport planning.
