MARITIME INFORMATION SOURCES: A GUIDE TO CURRENT DATA. SPECIAL BIBLIOGRAPHY. SECOND EDITION
This guide includes abstracts of government and privately maintained data bases and publications containing data related to maritime transportation, grouped by subject: ports and terminals; maritime economics; commercial vessel construction and repair; commercial vessel characteristics; commercial vessel movements; commercial vessel casualties; government vessel construction and repair; government vessel characteristics; cargo movements and trade routes; labor and management--general employment, unions and trade associations, and personnel casualties; government personnel; and inland waterways. With a few exceptions, the publications abstracted are periodically reissued or updated. Some organizations that collect data but issue no publications may make them available on request. A listing of some of these organizations has also been provided. Prices for publications and costs for use of data systems have not been included because they tend to fluctuate. The user is warned that, in some cases, the cost of obtaining data from sources included in this guide may be prohibitively high for individuals or organizations that have limited resources.
