THE USE OF MILLED BLASTFURNACE SLAG CEMENTS IN SOUTH AFRICA
The South African construction industry currently consumes about 8 million tons of portland cement (including 220 000 T pbfc) and 600 000 tons milled granulated blastfurnace slag (mgbs) per annum. The mgbs is blended with opc on site. While the usual blend is 50:50 opc:mgbs, up to 70% mgbs by mass of total cementitious material is sometimes used.
