PROPOSAL FOR EXTENSION TO CARLA
Carla (combinatorial algorithm for rescheduling lists of activities) is a computer model which explicitly represents the temporal constraints and linkages which influence the way in which activities, and as a result trips, are scheduled by an individual in a given period of time. This paper proposes further developments to the model, a) theoretically: to improve its representation of the spatial dimension, of inter-personal linkages, and to introduce a choice sub-model; and b) practically: to implement the model on a microcomputer so as to create an interactive research and development tool, which would be useful during model development and as an experimental data collection system.
