ANALYSIS OF THE MEASURING AND TESTING PROCEEDURES FOR MOTOR VEHICLE EXHAUST EMISSIONS REGULATED IN EUROPE AND IN THE USA

This report gives the results of research on exhaust emission testing procedures used in different European countries and the USA, and makes proposals concerning an international standardization of test procedures designed to avoid all recognised disadvantages. Aspects covered by the research include: repeated tests; error analysis; certification testing; assembly line testing; measurements on production vehicles; field surveillance; development and applications of the standard test car; sampling and analysis procedures; and driving cycles.
