NAASRA/ARRB WORKSHOP ON THE USE OF RELATIVE COMPACTION IN THE CONTROL OF ROADWORKS; PROCEEDINGS, INCLUDING DISCUSSION FROM THE WORKSHOP ON MEASUREMENT AND USE OF RELATIVE COMPACTION HELD DURING THE 11TH ARRB CONFERENCE

The purpose of the workshop was to provide a forum for engineers from state road authorities to discuss the methods of establishing compaction standards for soils, aggregates and asphaltic concrete in the laboratory and the field as well as the various methods of measuring the density of these materials and thus the relative compaction achieved. Effects of materials and methods of measurement of density on the variability of the results obtained, and the methods of specification and acceptance were also discussed. Adequacy of existing standards and procedures was examined and studies for the improvement of practices proposed. The workshop was held at the Australian Road Research Centre, Vermont South, Victoria on 1st and 2nd April, 1982 with the second workshop being held at the 11th ARRB Conference on 24th August 1982. The ISBN of the microfiche version is 0 86910 083 1. For the abstracts of individual papers see TRIS nos. 378032-046. The conference preprints were issued under the title: NAASRA/ARRB Workshop on Measurement and and Use of Relative Compaction of Soils, Aggregates and Asphaltic Concrete in Road Construction, see 1982 ARI No. 302003.
