ENTRANCE LOSS AND BOUNDARY DEVELOPMENT IN SMOOTH- AND ROUGH-WALLED RECTANGULAR CONDUITS
The paper summarizes the results of analytical studies on energy losses during boundary layer development in the entrance of smooth and rough conduits. Velocities as defined by the Blasius Law were used to relate the local pressure, momentum of the liquid and the wall friction. The analytical studies resulted in entrance loss of 0.077 and 9.096 of the conduit velocity head, respectively for the smooth and rough conduit conditions.
