THE COMPROMISE BETWEEN MECHANICAL PROPERTIES AND CORROSION RESISTANCE IN COPPER AND ALUMINUM ALLOYS FOR MARINE APPLICATIONS
Materials selection involves a compromise between mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, as pointed out by the author. Recent developments in copper and aluminum alloys of improved mechanical or corrosion properties, or both, are described. Probable uses of these and established alloys in ocean engineering applications are considered, and the relevance of different mechanical and corrosion factors to the selection of materials for these purposes is discussed.
