FIRST LNG CARGO PUMPS COMPLETED BY SHINKOKINZOKI AND NISHISHIBA
A description of a liquefied natural gas cargo pump is presented. This pump is different from others in that it has to be submerged in the substance that it is pumping. The motor and pump are built in one body, with the whole unit installed at the bottom of the cargo tank. Shaft seals are not required, and ball bearings are used extensively in place of lubrication. Other special features of construction, including insulating material and shaft support, are briefly described, and requirements and capabilities of the pump and motor are also given.
