Consultation on the EU New Urban Mobility Initiative
As laid out in the Better Regulations Tool #53,1 consultation strategies are essential for evidence-based policymaking, ensuring greater legitimacy and transparency. To help the EU build on its 2013 urban mobility package and meet its 2050 climate target, this initiative proposes measures to encourage EU countries to develop urban transport systems that are safe, accessible, inclusive, affordable, smart, resilient and emission-free. The initiative also addresses transport pollution and congestion and draws lessons from COVID-19’s effect on public transport to help with the transition to a climate-neutral economy and emission-free transport at the local level. The public consultation was conducted from 01 July 2021 to 23 September 2021 and was accessible via the Commission’s central platform Have your say. Using EU Survey, the consultation was available in all official languages and respondents could identify as one of the following stakeholders : Academic/research institution; Business association; Company/business organisation; Consumer organisation; EU citize;n Environmental organisation; Non-EU citizen; Non-governmental organisation (NGO); Public authorit;y Trade union; Other.
