GEOTECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS OF SITE SELECTION FOR AN OFFSHORE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT
Pursuant to plans of the Public Service Electric and Gas Company of New Jersey to locate two 1000 Megawatt Nuclear Power Plants on the Continental Shelf, a study was initiated for evaluating three potential sites off the coast of New Jersey. All three selected sites are just within the three mile limit of the State of New Jersey jurisdiction. This paper is limited to the foundation engineering, geological and seismological considerations in selecting the most favorable site for the Nuclear Power Plant. Many other aspects of present day plant siting such as the legal, political, and ecological influences are referred to where pertinent.
