BICYCLING SCIENCE. 2ND EDITION

The revised edition of the book has been introduced following renewed interest in the bicycle as a serious form of travel. Information has been introduced on human power output under various conditions, and sections have been extended on aerodynamics, wheel and bearing losses. New designs for racing and commuting applications are also covered in sections on predicting speeds for typical and hypothetical machines at various levels of power output. Information is presented in three sections:- human power - which deals with a history of bicycles and developing body performance; some bicycle physics - which is concerned with mechanical design, friction and steering; and, mechanics and mechanisms - which examines transmission efficiency and future developments.
