HULL FLEXURAL VIBRATIONS OF THE CONTAINERSHIP DART EUROPE
The level of hull vibration accelerations, vertical and horizontal, is given over the length of the containership DART EUROPE. The calculated and measured frequencies compare satisfactorily for the vertical vibrations up to four nodes and for the two-node horizontal vibrations. From an analysis of shipping stresses damping factors are deduced and a mean damping factor is introduced in a program for the calculation of the springing stresses. The calculated springing stresses compare satisfactorily with the measured stresses.
