APPLICATION OF THE SMEED'S AND JACOBS' FORMULA TO ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS IN CROATIA AND YUGOSLAVIA

PRIMJENA SMEEDOVE I JACOBSOVE FORMULE NA CESTOVNE PROMETNE NEZGODE U SR HRVATSKOJ I SFR JUGOSLAVIJI

In this article the relationship between the level of vehicle ownership and road fatalities in Yugoslavia and in Croatia in particular for the period between 1970 and 1980 based on the Smeed's, Jacobs' and Hutchinson's formula has been analysed. The achieved regression curves point to these firm relations but the models differ from the mentioned formula. Some implications arising from these differences are also being discussed. (TRRL)
