THE INITIAL IMPERFECTION OF THE ELEMENTS OF BOX GIRDER BRIDGES

POCETNA NELINEARNOST ELEMENATA CELICNIH SANDUCASTIH MOSTOVA

The initial imperfections of some steel structural elements have been measured on three large box girder road bridges. To evaluate the order of imperfections, and to assess the accuracy of the manufacturing of the given type of structure in local conditions, measurements were performed in the workshop on the structure assembled for testing, as well as on site after the structure has been completed. The results of measurements have been plotted in the form of histograms of frequency of imperfection and have been processed statistically, thus obtaining the mean and standard deviation. The 95% fraction has also been calculated for comparison with the given standard imperfection values in steel structure manufacturing. (TRRL)
