CAD IN AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING
This paper discusses Integrated Computer Aided Engineering (ICAE) as related to the automobile industry, or more particularly to Volkswagenwerk AG. The term is defined as the passing on of the results of individual processes involved in vehicle engineering from one development phase to the next within an integrated data system where all the individual processes are computer-aided. The picture given indicates the goal which Volkswagenwerk AG is trying to achieve rather than the current situation. Subject headings include the following: the vehicle engineering process, ICAE, examples of CAE, requirements and expectations regarding CAE techniques, and goals for the future.
