Upper Midwest Transportation Issues and Outlooks
This report deals with the following issues regarding the importance of transportation in the Upper Midwest: rationalization of the rail network; remaining competitive with other producing regions; changes in markets and distribution patterns; reregulation of the railroad industry; user fees on inland waterway systems; and seasonality of movement. In conclusion, the future outlook for Upper Midwest freight transportation is discussed.
