Evaluation of Problems Associated with Transporting North Dakota Potatoes
Unless the North Dakota grower is able to remain competitive in all phases of potato production, including cost and availability of transportation, North Dakota producers could easily lose their traditional markets to other production areas. This publication examines the problems associated with transporting North Dakota potatoes in the following chapters: (I) The North Dakota Potato Industry; (II) North Dakota Transportation: The Current Situation: A - Rail Transportation, B - Truck Transportation, C - Truck Regulatory Practices, D - Trailer-on-Flat-Car Transportation; (III) Alternatives for Improving the Availability of Transportation; and (IV) Conclusions and Recommendations for Improving the Availability of Transportation.
