ON THE LINEAR THEORY OF AN ACTUATOR DISK IN A VISCOUS FLUID
The linearized theory of an actuator disk working in an incompressible viscous fluid is given. The optimum radial thrust distribution is derived. This gives information about the optimum radial thrust distribution of a propeller in a turbulent wake. It is shown that the efficiency of an actuator disk is greater in a viscous medium than in an inviscid fluid.
