A Study of Long-Term Changes in Lifestyles and Traffic Behavior in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area
In recent years, the importance of urban planning in the Tokyo metropolitan area has been advocated with an awareness of the activities around residential areas. The purpose of this study is to obtain knowledge about the actual situation of people's activities around their residential areas, while paying attention to the changes in the urban structure of the Tokyo metropolitan area over the 50-year period since the 1970s. As a result, through the classification of traffic behavior patterns using the data of the Tokyo Metropolitan Area PT Survey, it was shown that private activities near the home have been diversifying, and that the change in the nature of shopping trips and the increase in exercise trips are particularly characteristic. In order to develop the next generation of sphere of daily existence, it will be important to consider the railroad station as the core of the area and to develop a network that enriches walking.
