BAGHDAD METRO -- FIRST IN THE MIDDLE EAST
Baghdad Metro, the first rapid transit system in the Middle East, is an important part of a massive programme of public investment in a balanced transport system. It is designed to handle public transport in the higher density areas of the city. Other areas will be served by an integrated bus system providing feeder services to metro stations. There will also be convenient connections between the metro and Iraqi Railways on both sides of the River Tigris, which flows through the centre of Baghdad, and with the city's expanding highway network.
