MEASURING DRIVER UNDERSTANDING OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES
The paper summarizes the results of testing situations designed to assess: knowledge of standards regarding colors, shape, and symbols used in the traffic communication system; understanding of specific traffic control devices apart from environmental cues; and knowledge of traffic controls in a driving context where environmental cues exist (in filmed driving sequences).
