MICROPROCESSOR VEHICLE MONITOR: FUEL CONSUMPTION MEASUREMENT
A microprocessor vehicle monitor (MVM) is being developed which will monitor the use of a vehicle. The data to be measured are date and time of day, fuel consumed and distance travelled. The MVM will recognise the start and end of every trip and record trip statistics. Some preliminary work is reported which was intended to demonstrate the accuracy of measurement of fuel flow using a low-cost equipment, but which also shows that the trip statistics produced by an MVM can be expected to differ from accepted norms.
