CONVERSION OF AN INDUSTRIAL PLANT TO A CENTRALIZED BUS MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE FACILITY
There are two important keys to the success of this project--low overall costs compared to construction of a new facility and rapid completion. Architectural design was commenced in mid-1980, bids were received in May, 1981, and the facility will be occupied in June, 1982. The project will be completed less than two years after commencement of design and well ahead of the planned construction schedule. The privately financed and constructed facility will reinforce the private-public cooperative transit system in Westchester County and continue to provide the best balance between service to the public and low cost to County taxpayers. Finally, the centralized bus operations and maintenance facility will streamline and upgrade the Westchester County bus transit system.
