SIMPLIFIED METHOD FOR REGULATING URBAN BUS SERVICES

METODO SIMPLIFICADO DE DIMENSIONAMIENTO PARA LINEAS URBANAS DE AUTOBUSES

This paper explains a method for regulating a currently operating urban bus service. The method is based on obtaining the bus running times between terminals and the passenger flow in the most heavily used stretches in both directions. This method is currently being used for working out the timetables of bus services run by the company Transportes de Barcelona, SA. The method establishes criteria for measuring these two factors of the bus running times between terminals and the estimation of the number of passengers carried in the heaviest used stretch. (TRRL)
