PROGRAM SYSTEM AXOPT FOR DESIGNING HIGHWAYS
A program system in FORTRAN was developed for approximating given curves by means of valid sequences of road parameter (clothoids, circles, straight lines). The curves may be given as hand-drawn lines or as a given set of parameters for designing the road. The process of finding the optimum curve fitting valid parameters is explained. The system can be operated on desk computers using 64 k bytes. (TRRL)
