RURAL JUNCTIONS IN THE MAIN ROAD NETWORK. DEVELOPMENT OF THE REGISTER FOR ANALYSIS

The register of analysis has been built up, arranged and put together from three different registers. From the registers of junctions, data on the design of junctions, traffic flow regulation, illumination, access roads and refuges among other things have been acquired. Data about the traffic flow, speed limit and the width of the road have been taken from the register of links. From the register of accidents, the police reported that accidents at junctions during the period 1972-75 have been divided into parameters of time of the year, road and light conditions. The register of analysis includes now, with few exceptions, all junctions on the national Swedish main road network, with one or more crossing traffic flows, in all 6247 junctions. The report documents the building and content of this analysis. (Author/TRRL)
