Assessment of the Unit Costs of Capital Expenditure for Investment Projects in Road Transport: Annex H—Case Study on Environmental Sustainable Infrastructure

Design choices or strategic plans and programs in the building of road infrastructures may negatively affect the surrounding environment. In this way, a systematic assessment is required to determine potential impacts and their significance in order to propose measures to mitigate such negative impacts. The objective of this case study is to identify the main mitigation measures for reducing environmental impact of road infrastructure, and their costs, when available. In order to do so, the document investigates the approaches to increase the sustainability of road infrastructures, from the policy context to the specific measures put in place all over the world to effectively tackle their negative impacts on the environment.
