Alcohol, Marijuana & Driving Risk
This fact sheet highlights recent research regarding the use of alcohol and marijuana by Canadian drivers. It starts with a look at the prevalence of alcohol and marijuana in road crashes. Next, it discusses the effects of alcohol and marijuana, separately and combined, on driving skills; the impact of alcohol and marijuana on crash risk; self-reported behaviors and attitudes around driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana; and legislation and enforcement issues. It concludes with a look at impaired driver programs and whether these programs are able to reduce recidivism for drivers who combine alcohol with marijuana.
