AN INVESTIGATION OF TRUCK SIZE AND WEIGHT LIMITS: PANEL REVIEW OF FINAL REPORT

With this document the Transportation Research Board's (TRB) Technical Review Panel for Truck Size and Weight fulfills the final requirement of a contract initiated in 1979 with the Office of the Secretary, U.S. Department of Transportation. The Panel was charged with following the progress of the original study group's efforts to examine the need for, and the desirability of, uniformity in maximum truck size and weight limits. This group's findings were contained in a two-volume work, "An Investigation of Truck Size and Weight Limits--Final Report and Appendices." The TRB Review Panel's critique of that report is contained herein. In addition, as required, Attachments B-D contain further comment (original documents) from individual Review Panel members.
