A FIRST APPROACH TO A HULL SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM
This paper deals with the preliminary investigations undertaken in connection with the development of a "Hull Surveillance System", i.e. a warning instrument which indicates the dynamic loads on a ship hull. The cargo liner M/S "Taimyr" has been instrumented to carry out a series of full-scale measurements. Some preliminary results concerning the correlation between heave and pitch motions, and the torsional moment as compared to the vertical bending moment, are presented.
