DETERMINATION OF OIL CONCENTRATION AND SIZE DISTRIBUTION IN SHIP BALLAST WATERS. METHOD AND REPRESENTATIVE RESULTS
Techniques to determine the state of dispersion for oily ballast waters are outlined. Oil concentrations were determined by using light transmittance through an ultrasonically emulsified, surfactant-stabilized sample, while oil droplet size distributions were directly measured using a microscopic photography cell.
