STEEL BEARING PILES
This publication deals with the selection, design, and installation of steel h-piles, tubular piles, and box piles for the foundations of all types of structure. Current practice and experience in this field are summarized. The characteristics and advantages of steel bearing piles are described to aid the selection of the correct pile type for given site and soil conditions. Methods of determining load capacity are summarized and information is given on pile formulae and test loading. Equipment, types of hammer, and their selection, are discussed, and the life of piles is considered in terms of soil, water, atmospheric corrosion and current methods of protective treatment. (TRRL)
