THE BLOCKAGE COEFFICIENT FOR FLOW ABOUT AN ARBITRARY BODY IMMERSED IN A CHANNEL
Each cross section of a ship has a blockage coefficient which is uniquely dependent on its shape. A general numerical procedure is described for finding this coefficient when the cross section takes an arbitary shape. Some asymptotic formulae, valid for a broad range of shiplike cross sections, are also derived for cases where the clearance below the ship is small.
