In these two example-volumes, which are parts of the handbook "Guidelines for Planning Public Transport", the practical applications of some of the planning methods are described in a detailed way based on planning prerequisites in both the small town of Motala, (30000 inhabitants) and the medium sized town of Oerebro, (90000 inhabitants). The two example-volumes illustrate different work phases and methods, which are presented in the other volumes of the planning handbook, and can therefore be seen as complements to each other. In Volume 1 the work concerning a part of a line network and the work concerning the design of the whole line network for the town of Motala is described. Volume 2 consists of a description of 7 studies that have been carried out in the town of Oerebro. The 7 studies dealt with travel demand, accessibility, the structure of the transport lines, capacity, bus streets, calculation of the production and construction of the timetable.
