GUIDELINES FOR PLANNING PUBLIC TRANSPORT. MAIN REPORT

PLANERINGSHANDBOK FOER KOLLEKTIVTRAFIK. HUVUDTEXT

This is part of a handbook which devises planning methods for public transport, and it is primarily directed to the officials engaged in the planning process. Consideration has been given to the planning of bus traffic in both urban and rural areas. To some extent demand responsive transportation has been studied, primarily to establish tariffs for route bound traffic and demand responsive services. The handbook consists of five volumes, and this is the main report which in a comprehensive way describes the planning process and the connection between different phases and methods used in the planning of urban and rural public transport systems. It also contains introductions to sections concerning operational planning and traffic management, fare systems and demand-responsive transportation. References are given in the margin to relevant sections in the method appendices and in this volume there is also a part with nomenclature and literature references. (TRRL)
