OPERATING LIMITS OF D.C. MACHINES
Where simple control of speed and torque is needed, a dc machine is usually used. Commutation is one of the factors limiting the operation of these machines. This article looks at some of the problems of commutation, as well as those of heating, magnetic saturation and mechanical stresses.
