HULL BENDING MOMENT DUE TO SPRINGING
As a starting point for the research about the phenomenon of springing, a careful survey of the existing literature on this subject was made. A mathematical model for the calculation of the bending moment due to springing is proposed. This mathematical model uses the modal analysis of the vibration of the ship and considers the effect of the distortion of the exciting wave along the hull for the calculation of the loading function. The influence of some design parameters on the occurrence of springing is pointed out, and it is suggested some further research on the problem, with the aim of evaluating the accuracy of the method developed.
