WHAT PRICE SHOULD THE GAS TURBINE BE PUT AT IN ORDER TO BE COMPETITIVE IN THE MERCHANT MARINE MARKET?

An economic analysis of various size tankers and general cargo ships was carried out with the use of the computer for a range of SHP's and various power plants in order to examine the possible marine applications of the Heavy Duty Gas Turbine (HDGT). The analysis is based on "optimum ship which has the minimum predicted Required Freight Rate". Sensitivity analysis for the fuel costs was also carried out to determine the effect on the relative change of RFR of the power plants. A Fortran IV computer listing and sample imputs and outputs are included.
