LEISURE PROVISION AND PEOPLE'S NEEDS
Part 1 of the report describes the approach to the study undertaken to investigate the "fit" between the present pattern of provision of leisure facilities and the needs of the population. The scope of the study was to extend to the whole range of leisure facilities. The research was to be undertaken in two stages: a one-year study followed by three-year empirical research. Part 2 looks at the influence of leisure providers: public authorities, local environments, families and social networks, ethnic communities, activity opportunities. Three common life situations are given as illustrations of influence: families with young children, families with adolescents, single person households. Part 3 draws together together the main ideas in the preceding chapters and points the way to implementation. (TRRL)
