FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEMS. WHAT CAN GO WRONG?
A periodic inspection of the fuel system--fuel tank, delivery line, pump, filter, charcoal canister, and vapor-recovery line--can reduce the chances of fuel-delivery system malfunctions happening. But if a problem does occur, understanding how the system works and knowing how to trouble-shoot it, can help correct it quickly. This article explains how to inspect the system, how to track down problems and how to change a mechanical pump. Two illustrations are included: the complete fuel system, and the mechanical pump.
