WATER-SOLUBLE SOLID FERTILIZER PARTICLES ARE RECOVERED FROM AN OIL SLURRY
Water-soluble solid fertilizer particles are recovered from an oil slurry at the terminal end of a pipeline by treating the slurry which contains 20-40% of the 50-500 micron particles with saturated brine under laminar flow conditions to allow phase transfer of the particles from the oil to the brine phase, separating the phases, and allowing the solids to settle out of the water phase. Specifically, sylvite (potassium chloride) is thus recovered.
