APPARATUS FOR TRANSPORTING FLUIDS BETWEEN A SUBMERGED STORAGE TANK AND A FLOATING TERMINAL
The specification discloses offshore apparatus for storing material below the surface of a body of water and for transporting the material from the storage area to a point adjacent the surface. Structurally the apparatus comprises an open-bottom storage tank anchored in a submerged position. A rigid-walled tether pipe is attached to the tank and extends substantially vertically upward therefrom. Buoyant means is concentrically mounted on the upper end of the tether pipe to maintain it in a substantially vertical position. Material is transferred through the tether pipe between the tank and a point adjacent the surface.
