ARTIC OR DOUBLE DECK: U.S. TRIALS MAY DECIDE
As U.S. systems have strived to reduce operating costs by increasing the ratio of bus passengers to drivers, both double-deck and articulated buses have undergone extensive appraisal. European producers have offered both designs through U.S. subsidiaries or agents; General Motors has developed its own RTS Mega articulated design. Maintenance facilities may require changes to accommodate either design effectively. Adapting European designs to U.S. requirements has also presented problems.
