After a historical outline of urban transport developments, a prospect of the growth of cities to 2000 AD and the changing demand for urban transport is given. The author looks at forms of urban transport and their development and use: Metros and suburban rail, trams and trolley-buses, urban buses, intermediate public transport and taxis, cars and motor-cycles.
