PUBLIC TRANSPORT SERVICES BETWEEN AMSTERDAM AND PURMEREND
HET OPENBAAR VERVOER IN DE RELATIE AMSTERDAM-PURMEREND
The growth of Purmerend will cause a continuous increase in the number of commuters to Amsterdam. This will result in and increasing traffic volume, especially on the Coentunnel and Ijtunnel routes. To reduce the impact of this growing number of commuters on traffic intensity it is argued that public transport by rail should be encouraged. Therefore it is suggested that a rail link between Purmerend and Amsterdam south-west via Amsterdam central station should be constructed. (TRRL)
