WAX-TYPE ADDITIVE EXTENDS TIRE LIFE
This article states that hydrocarbon wax-type additives inhibit tire damage from atmospheric ozone. The additives keep the exposed areas (the tread and sidewalls) from cracking, thus maintaining tire serviceability and appearance. A discussion is then presented of the outward migration of the wax additives.
