ACCIDENT PREVENTION FOR CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS
PREVENTIE VAN ONGEVALLEN BIJ KINDEREN EN ADOLESCENTEN
This paper discusses some epidemiological and psychological aspects of accidents in the age group of 0-19 years. The youngest children are vulnerable to home-accidents and older children are more liable to traffic and sports accidents. Research into the psychological backgrounds has revealed that accident proneness is not an unchangeable disposition. In some stages of the motoric, cognitive and social development, children are more liable to accidents than in other stages. Preventive measures based on epidemiologic and in-depth studies are recommended. (Author/TRRL)
